Finally decided to go "multi-console" and added a new 360 to my ps2 and ps3. Couple questions...

Any tips that will help avoid (or at least prolong:) getting a RROD?

Any suggestions for 360 only rpgs/srpgs?

How much is Xbox live? Is it worth it?

My 1st thoughts/comments.
-It *is* louder than the ps3, but over the noise of the game, it doesn't really matter.

The whole "the ps3 costs so much more thing" is bullshit!

I thought that I was doing pretty well (and that the 360 was indeed considerably cheaper than a new ps3) when I came home w/ a brand new 360 (w/ a hard drive) for under $300...
... ...
... ... ...until I got in to connecting it.

In order to hook-up with my wireless internet service-I had to but a special adaptor for $100 (I guess I could have found a used 1 for less...but still)
In order to hook it up to one of my tv's additional hdmi slots, again, I had to buy *separately*, connection cables (for close to another $50)

So...So far-dollar for dollar, I've found the 360 to not cost any less than the ps3 (considering that my ps3 came w/ a blu-ray player, better backwards compatibility than the 360 seems to have with the older xbox, "wireless ready" and "hdmi compatible" out of the box-and of course psn is free as opposed to whatever xbox live costs.

***Disclaimer***
I'm not taking sides here-or recommending 1 console over the other.
Just thought that since I now have both, I'd try to keep an open and unprejudiced comparison, pros, and cons of the 2 consoles going here.

Everybody/Anybody-please feel free to contribute/expand on what I'm starting here.

If you have PSN xbox live is not worth it, because you have to pay. However if there are xbox only games you want to play then you should get it very affordable at $7.99.

If you bought a new xbox make sure to go to xbox.com to register it. If you do you'll activate the year warranty and the 3 year extended rrod and E74 error, which if any of those happens resets after you get you console sent back. I would not fear the RROD or E74. I used to but after I found out about the warranty extensions and resets when you get you console back I fear not. esp since mine went E74 a few months back.

Thanks for the tip, GP.

It's not like Gamestop mentioned anything about where to go on-line to protect/extend the warranties.

It's funny-I was unable to find my serial number anywhere on my 360-but...I did find it on my receipt. Are the serial numbers hidden internally some place, or is it just standard to print them on the receipts?

Just curious!

I just tried registering the console at xbox.com, but it didn't go through. I just e-mailed their customer service about it. I will have to wait and see what they say that the problem is...

The important numbers should be on a sticker on the back of the console.

Make sure you keep the power brick off carpet and keep it clean of dust. Keep the console in a well ventilated spot, free of dust as well, and it shouldn't overheat or cause errors.

Xbox live is kind of a rip-off. You pay for the service of having it, then have to pay for all of the features like DLC. I can't compare it to the PSN though cuz I've never had it.
